
Silver economy: mapping of actors and trends in Latin America and the Caribbean

This report presents a mapping of actors whose services or products are directed to the elderly, and the trends of the silver economy in the region, by sector, are examined: health, attention to dependence, finance, housing,Transport, labor market, education, entertainment and digitization.
The mapping realized, as a result of which 245 actors were identified whose services or products are directed to the elderly, yield three main findings.
The silver economy markets and sectors are differentiated by their size and maturity level. For example, the long-term care sector, which includes nursing homes, is the oldest and includes the largest number of actors, while the development of sectors such as digital, home automation, shared housing or cohousing, among others, is still in its infancy.
