Opinno and myGwork boost LGBTI diversity and inclusion in the workplace
Workplace well-being and diversity are increasingly important for companies, especially regarding talent retention in digital and technological profiles. Aware of this, the professional network myGwork and the innovation consultancy Opinno organized an event to promote good practices in LGBTI diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The event was attended by general managers of strategic companies, as well as representatives from organizations such as Yahoo, Mercer, and Nielsen.
The event was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Madrid City Council, Begoña Villacís, and the Delegate for Economy, Innovation and Employment, Miguel Ángel Redondo. According to the latest Manpower report, 40% of European professionals prefer to work for companies with inclusion, diversity, and equality policies.
Miguel Garzón, director of myGwork, emphasized that companies that attract and retain LGBTI talent have a greater capacity to build a powerful brand reputation and reach a market worth more than 4 trillion euros. Despite advances in the fight against discrimination, there are still situations of homophobia, lesbophobia, biphobia, and transphobia in the workplace. Miguel Ángel Redondo called on organizations to adopt diversity and inclusion policies. Begoña Villacís highlighted the Chueca neighborhood as an example of transformation through diversity. In summary, the event promoted LGBTI diversity and inclusion in the workplace and highlighted the benefits this can have for companies and society.
