Lima, April 20, 2022.- MIT Technology Review in Spanish opens the call for the Innovators Under 35 LATAM 2022 (IU35) awards, aimed at young entrepreneurs and innovators under 35 years old in Latin America who are creatively using technology to solve humanity's great problems.
“We are very excited that the number one innovation and technology event in Latin America, organized by MIT, is being held for the first time in Peru. This initiative aims for several objectives: first, to show Peru as a country that seriously bets on innovation as a driver of development and growth; second, to decentralize and democratize knowledge; and third, to serve as a channel to attract and showcase the innovative talent of the region that, using technology as a vehicle, aims to change industries, businesses, and experiences, generating impact on society and their countries. We want to inform you that those who wish to join these awards can contact us through our social networks,” says Pedro Mateos, Director of Innovation and Agility at Opinno Peru.
This year, the 8th edition of the Innovators Under 35 LATAM awards has the sponsorship of various institutions such as Credicorp, Grupo UNACEM, SGS, NTT Data, and Niubiz, in addition to allied collaborating entities such as the University of Engineering and Technology (UTEC) and the newspaper El Comercio.
What information should candidates know to apply for the IU35 awards?
Innovators Under 35 LATAM 2022 aims to recognize innovation: the development of new technologies or the creative application of existing technologies to solve problems or add value, with a positive and visible impact on society. More than 500 candidates are nominated each year, and their work is evaluated by our panel of judges, who select the list of 35 winners to be published by MIT Technology Review. The evaluation criteria that the jury will consider are the following: project impact, validity of the innovative proposal, ingenuity, audacity, and the candidate's communication skills.
Each year, the aim is to recognize the brightest minds in Latin America. The competition categories that will be awarded are the following:
