The leader in the face of innovation: keys to innovative leadership

December 15, 2023Impact Stories

Innovation is in vogue. Typing “innovation” into Google yields over one hundred million references in a fraction of a second.

Not to mention the books on the subject. There are indeed many, some very good and probably much more technical than the new book by Tommaso Canonici, Antonio Nunez, Antonio Perdichizzi.

And what about the literature on leadership? It alone would cover the walls of the ancient library of Alexandria with volumes.

Why, then, add another title to this vast production? There is one reason, above all others, that guided the authors: to delve into an aspect they consider fundamental to the discipline. Beyond its technological or methodological dimension, innovation is intimately linked to the human factor. And this is precisely the raison d'être of this book, which addresses innovation from the perspective of leadership.

How has technology changed my sector and my business in recent years? How can a leader reconcile the need to achieve short-term results with that of experimenting and investing for the future? How does a CEO simultaneously address the needs of operational units and those of innovation? How do you balance short-term strategy with medium and long-term strategy?

This text attempts to provide answers for guiding innovation from above, through the stories and opinions of over one hundred CEOs and leaders who are transforming their organizations. Innovative leaders whom we imagine as astronauts: visionary, curious, explorers, daring, ambitious, who see everything from a global perspective.

These business astronauts, even if they seem to be alone and remote in space, are in constant communication with their teams and need them to return to earth.

In this book, we talk about how to transform an organization, through technology, certainly, but above all through vision, mission, values, and people.

The leader in the face of innovation is therefore a valuable source of inspiration for leaders who wish to grow their organizations, without ever losing sight of the fundamental role of human leadership in the era of technology.
